Cookie Policy

The categories of cookies and local storage this site can use, and how to control them.

What cookies and local storage do on this site

This site uses your browser's local storage (not traditional server-set cookies) to remember your consent choice, and may use cookies for advertising if you switch that category on. Nothing here is shared between visitors — each choice lives only in your own browser.

Review or change your choice

Open the cookie preferences dialog at any time.

The four categories

Necessary — always on

Required for the site's core tools to work — specifically, remembering the cookie choice you make below. These cannot be switched off, and nothing in this category is used for tracking or advertising.

Preferences

Lets the site remember display choices you make, such as a previously used DNS record type or expanded panels, between visits. Off by default.

Statistics

Would help us understand how visitors use the site in aggregate, if and when analytics software is added. No statistics cookies are active on this site today. Off by default.

Marketing

Used to show and measure relevant advertising through Google AdSense, if and when it is enabled for a given page. Off by default; nothing in this category loads until you switch it on.

How your choice is stored

Your category choices are saved under the key cookieConsent in your browser's local storage, along with the date you gave them. This is not sent to our servers and is not shared with anyone. It applies across every page of this site.

Third-party cookies

If you switch on Marketing, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may set their own cookies to serve and measure ads, subject to Google's own policies. You can manage ad personalization directly through Google's Ads Settings.

Clearing cookies at the browser level

You can also clear stored preferences at any time through your browser's own settings (usually under Privacy / Site Data / Clear browsing data), which will reset your choice on this site to "not yet decided" and show the consent dialog again on your next visit.
